It is with profound sadness that we acknowledge the passing of our dear friend, Dr. Jane Goodall. Jane was not only a pioneering scientist and conservationist but also a close and personal friend of Free The Wild’s founders, Gina, Mark, and Cher. Her loss is deeply felt within our family and across the global conservation community.
Dr. Goodall's courage, conviction and boundless compassion forever changed the way the world understands animals, ecosystem, and our shared responsibility to protect them. From her groundbreaking research with chimpanzees at Gombe to her lifelong dedication through the Jane Goodall Institute and Roots & Shoots, she inspired millions, especially women and young people to believe in science, education and their own power to create change.
Her legacy is one of hope. Through her vision, she removed barriers for women in science, empowered youth in nearly 75 countries and redefined humankind’s relationship with the natural world. She showed us that even in the face of crisis, each individual action matters and that together, we can reshape the future.
We thank Jane for her immeasurable contribution to conservation, for teaching the world to approach all life with empathy and respect, and for leaving an indelible mark on the hearts of budding and veteran ecologists alike.
Though Jane is no longer with us, her work continues to thrive through the Jane Goodall Institute, Roots & Shoots and all those she inspired. Free The Wild looks forward to many years of continued collaboration with JGI, carrying forward Jane’s message of hope and building upon her extraordinary legacy.
